Services we offer

Breastfeeding

Osborne Park Hospital is a Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI) (external site) Accredited Hospital where a mother's informed choice of infant feeding is encouraged, respected and supported.

There are a variety of ways that women can access breastfeeding information and breastfeeding assistance here at Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS). The Breastfeeding Centre runs a Prepare for Breastfeeding class and a Positioning and Attachment class online with a lactation consultant. Booking and class information is available in parent education.

If you would like an appointment with a lactation consultant, please telephone (08) 6457 8020 Monday to Friday. Women with complex needs can access a one-on-one appointment at the Breastfeeding Centre (external site). Ask your midwife for more information.

Please visit the King Edward Memorial Hospital website (external site) for more information.

Dietician

Nutritional counselling is available to women throughout their pregnancy and the postnatal period. You can make an appointment through your antenatal clinic midwife. If you are above the healthy weight range for your height, the clinic midwife will arrange for an appointment with the dietician for you. OPH has a weight restriction policy for accepting women for maternity care – you will not be accepted for care if =>120kgs or BMI =>40.
