Services we offer
Physiotherapy
In addition to exercise classes during and after pregnancy, physiotherapy treatment is provided Monday to Friday in the Maternity Ward/Outpatient departments for these problems after birth.
Postnatal Services offered:
- Guidance to recovery post vaginal or caesarean delivery
- Return to exercise guidance
- Pelvic floor muscle training
- Rectus abdominal diastasis
- Cracked nipples
- Mastitis
- Blocked milk ducts
- Haemorrhoids
- Bowel issues (e.g. constipation)
- Incontinence – bowel or bladder
- Reduced/absent bladder sensation
- Pain during/after sexual intercourse
- Prolapse
- Painful episiotomy or tears
After your discharge home, you can book an appointment with a Women’s Health Physiotherapist up to 6 weeks post natal without needing a referral by calling (08) 6457 8059. After the 6 week post natal period, women will need to obtain a referral from their GP.
Dietician
Nutritional counselling is available to women throughout their pregnancy and the postnatal period. You can make an appointment through your antenatal clinic midwife. If you are above the healthy weight range for your height, the clinic midwife will arrange for an appointment with the dietician for you. OPH has a weight restriction policy for accepting women for maternity care – you will not be accepted for care if =>120kgs or BMI =>40.
Social Work
The Social Work Department provides a service to patients and their families who attend the OPH Women’s and Newborn Service. You can request a referral to a Social Worker through your GP, the treating Doctor or Midwife at the Antenatal Clinic, or contact the Social Workers directly on (08) 6457 8165 / 6457 8410.
Social Workers are available Monday to Friday and provide supportive counselling and assistance in accessing community resources regarding:
- Adjustment to pregnancy and childbirth
- Relationship difficulties with your partner, parents, children or others
- Assistance and referral for substance abuse issues
- Practical, financial and legal issues
- Options for parenting support after the birth of your baby / babies
Gynaecology Services
Osborne Park Hospital provides:
- Outpatient gynaecology services
- Same and multi-day gynaecology procedures
- Day procedures through the Ambulatory Surgery Initiative (ASI) for patients with a valid Medicare card.
Meals
- Meals and snacks are prepared according to a set menu by the catering staff onsite at the hospital.
- No cooking, re-heating or refrigeration facilities are available for patients.
Overseas patient fees
Hospital fees for patients who are not eligible for Medicare are set by the WA Department of Health. Overseas visitors and overseas students are required to pay for the cost of their care. More information about overseas patient fees.
