Osborne Park Hospital entry road closures 20 and 21 December 16 December 2024 Osborne Park Hospital entry road closures 20 and 21 December Car park access at Osborne Park Hospital (OPH) will be modified when the City of Stirling undertake road works on Dennis Street and Osborne Place from 7am to 7pm on 20 and 21 December. Stage 1 works – Friday 20 December OPH’s main entrance road, ambulance entry road and Car Park 5 access road from Osborne Place will be closed during the roadworks. Signage and detours will be in place for patients and visitors to gain access via an alternative route. The main entrance doors to the hospital will remain open. The back entrance to Car Park 5 will remain open for temporary drop off and pick up only (see Figure 2 below). Transperth bus route 427 bus may be affected during the works. Spreading awareness of fall risk factors 18 November 2024 Throughout November, nursing, physiotherapy and occupational therapy staff across Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Hospitals (OPH) are championing the 2024 No Falls November campaign and spreading awareness about fall risk factors for older adults. OPH Falls Specialist Physiotherapists Jess Davies and Simone Tam and A/Senior Occupational Therapist Faye Baker are part of a collaborative team of allied health professionals and volunteers driving falls prevention programs across acute and community settings. Volunteer aphasia group set to expand 13 September 2024 Volunteer services will be expanding at Osborne Park Hospital (OPH) next month, with past aphasia patients meeting with current patients from our Stroke Rehabilitation ward to share their experiences to assist others with their recovery. The volunteers are part of iDecide, an aphasia-based volunteer Consumer Advisory Group formed at OPH in 2021 under the guidance of the OPH Speech Pathology Department. Aphasia is a condition that occurs as a result of damage to the language centre of the brain with one in three people experiencing aphasia after a stroke. New outpatient Prehabilitation service 26 August 2024 A new Prehabilitation service has been launched for patients receiving treatment at Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Hospitals with the aim to improve patients physical, nutritional, and psychological health prior to complex surgery or stem cell transplant. The Prehabilitation service is a pre-surgical multidisciplinary team providing physiotherapy, dietetics, and clinical psychology for outpatients. Prehabilitation benefits include optimised physical and psychological readiness for surgery, reduced length of hospital stay, improved post-surgical functioning for the patient and more. Electronic prescribing implementation 12 June 2024 The North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) is in the process of implementing electronic prescriptions (external site) in the Outpatient Clinics at Sir Charles Gairdner (SCGH) and Osborne Park Hospitals (OPH). This project will align the SCGOPH care group with the other health service providers in Western Australia, providing patients with access to electronic prescriptions across the state. Instead of receiving a paper prescription, patients can instead opt to receive their prescription via SMS or email. This can then be filled at their local pharmacy. Please note, SCGH and OPH onsite Outpatient Pharmacies are currently unable to receive electronic prescriptions and must still be provided with normal paper prescriptions at present.
