Meet Enrolled Nurse Michael

Michael nurse recruitment
27/06/2025

Osborne Park Hospitals (OPH) enrolled nurse, Michael, recently shared what he loved most about working as an enrolled nurse and what made the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) a great place to work.

Michael is passionate advocate for workplaces where you feel like part of a big, supportive family.

He said he discovered this environment at NMHS with his nursing journey beginning at Graylands Hospital.

“From day one, I felt the camaraderie deeply embedded within the organisation,” Michael said.

“It’s more than just working together — it’s building lifelong friendships, which is a natural part of a career within NMHS.”

Throughout his journey at NMHS, Michael said he had been wrapped in a blanket of support from doctors and nurses to allied health professionals and health support services.

“It’s a true team effort,” he said.

“The collaborative environment here has completely deepened my understanding of holistic care and really opened my eyes to the power of evidence-based practice.”

Recently, Michael made the leap from mental health to general nursing, with a little help from NMHS’s registered nurse/enrolled nurse recruitment pool — an initiative that helps nurses expand their skills and grow their careers.

Now working in the Younger Adult Rehabilitation Service at OPH, Michael said he’s never felt more supported.

“There’s such a strong culture of encouragement; no question is a silly one here — asking questions is actually celebrated," he said.

For those considering a fresh start, a career change, or just looking for a place where team spirit and genuine connection are part of the package, Michael said NMHS is the place to be.

Michael said it was this open-door, open-heart atmosphere that makes the organisation such a truly special.

“The empathy, authenticity and respect are not only valued, but practised every day,” he said.

“A supportive ethos permeates every level of staff. The understanding and kindness from my colleagues have made me proud of the work we do and grateful to be part of it.”

Want to join the team? SCGH and OPH currently have enrolled and registered nursing positions available.
