    Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital bronchoscopy robot reaches 100 patient milestone 14 May 2026 Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) has reached an impressive 100‑patient milestone with its new robotic bronchoscopy. This groundbreaking technology is helping clinicians diagnose and remove small cancerous nodules in the peripheral lung, where conventional biopsy tools face limitations. Minister of Health for Medical Research, the Hon Stephen Dawson, visited SCGH to acknowledge the milestone and see firsthand the remarkable work of the teams involved. "This Western Australian-first program has already benefited the lives of 100 people, and I congratulate and thank all those involved at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for driving the vision and delivering leading-edge patient outcomes," said Minister Dawson.     Karrinyup Rotary Nurse of the Year winner announced for OPH 22 May 2023 Donna Wheeldon, Clinical Nurse Manager Osborne Park Hospital has been named the 2023 Karrinyup Rotary Nurse of the Year. The award recognises outstanding nurses at Osborne Park Hospital. Donna was the finalist in the category of Excellence in Clinical Practice and was nominated for her strengths in safety and quality and making a difference to those around her. Donna's nomination recognised her as a reliable and humble ward clinical manager who truly puts the patients at the centre of everything she does.     Osborne Park Hospital receives new state-of-the-art CT scanner 14 December 2022 The Radiology department at Osborne Park Hospital is officially home to a brand new, cutting edge Computed Tomography (CT) scanner. The new Canon Aquilion ONE Genesis unit took almost five weeks to install. It is deemed to be one of the most advanced systems in WA Health, and will provide a significant range of benefits to patients. Harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence for deep learning reconstruction (DLR), the CT scanner achieves high quality images at a fast rate whilst emitting a very low dose of radiation. The capabilities of the new equipment will also enable a broader range of scans to be performed at OPH.
