Rehabilitation Ward 2 now open at OPH 17 May 2021 Osborne Park Rehabilitation and Neonatal Project Although our official opening ceremony will take place in coming weeks, we're excited to see our brand-new F Block Rehabilitation Ward (Ward 2) is now officially open to patients! This contemporary 16-bed rehabilitation ward includes six existing stroke beds and 10 additional new rehabilitation beds that will absolutely improve our patients’ hospital and care experience for many years to come. Adjacent to Ward 2 is the new Therapy Garden – a purpose-built, wonderful outdoor space that will be used exclusively by our patients (and their visitors/support person). It has been purpose-built for patients to receive modern and functional rehabilitation services following a stroke, amputation or for those living with a neurological condition. Nurse Spotlight - OPH's Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) Nurses 14 May 2021 In celebration of International Nurses Day 2021, we are shining a spotlight on our exceptional nurses. This year the Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Health Care Group is focusing on nurse innovation in the face of an unprecedented global health crisis. The pandemic has opened up opportunities for us to stop and explore what we do and how we do it, providing nurses a way to do things better. Today’s spotlight is on the Osborne Park ACAT Nurses who form part of a multidisciplinary Aged Care Assessment Team made up of Nursing, Social Work and Occupational Therapy. The Osborne Park ACAT Nurses participated in the development of a triaging service for ACAT that ensures the large volume of referrals and general enquiries are appropriately prioritised for assessments so that vulnerable older people receive aged care services in a timely manner. Improving outcomes for Parkinson’s patients 30 March 2021 World Parkinson’s Day is 11 April and we are highlighting the work of our OPH Parkinson’s Clinic Physiotherapy team which has recently introduced additional exercise classes to promote and facilitate neuroplasticity in patients living with early stage Parkinson’s. These high-level classes incorporate a multimodal approach in the delivery of exercise interventions which have been shown to be effective in the treatment of Parkinson’s. They include Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT BIG), yoga, high cadence cycling and non-contact boxing.
