Improving outcomes for Parkinson’s patients 30 March 2021 World Parkinson’s Day is 11 April and we are highlighting the work of our OPH Parkinson’s Clinic Physiotherapy team which has recently introduced additional exercise classes to promote and facilitate neuroplasticity in patients living with early stage Parkinson’s. These high-level classes incorporate a multimodal approach in the delivery of exercise interventions which have been shown to be effective in the treatment of Parkinson’s. They include Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT BIG), yoga, high cadence cycling and non-contact boxing. Opening of new OPH Therapy Hub 18 February 2021 The new Therapy Hub in T Block will open to patients and visitors on Monday, 22 February 2021. The purpose-built Therapy Hub at OPH will provide a spacious, contemporary environment for inpatients and outpatients undertaking rehabilitation following a stroke or amputation or living with neurological conditions. Our multidisciplinary teams are looking forward to working with patients in the Therapy Hub’s functional training unit which incorporates a universally accessible kitchen, laundry, bathroom and bedroom, providing the opportunity to enhance the patient’s rehabilitation experience and outcomes. SafeWA QR codes and manual registers 04 February 2021 In line with the State Government’s direction that all hospitals display SafeWA (external site) visitor QR codes and manual registers, all NMHS hospital sites are now compliant. The direction requires all visitors (once permitted to return) to register their attendance via the SafeWA app or manual register before they enter Sir Charles Gairdner, Osborne Park, King Edward and Graylands hospitals, as well as at their final destination, such as a specific clinic, department or ward, within the hospital. Outpatient clinic attendees are not considered visitors; however, a carer or companion is. Visitors attending our sites to see inpatients, for meetings or other essential business need to register via the app or manual register closest to your location. Translated COVID-19 resources available 04 February 2021 There are a number of translated resources for WA’s culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities about ways to stay COVID-safe. Resources including posters, fact sheets and videos are currently available in: Arabic, Juba Arabic, Dinka, Achol, Korean, Italian, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Thai, Tamil, Swahili, Spanish, Somali, Punjabi, Khmer, Karen, Indonesian, French, Dari, Hazaragi, Burmese, and Farsi. The 22 language suite of resources is available on the HealthyWA website (external site). This supplements an already extensive range of English resources (external site) and campaign materials (external site).
