Murdoch Medihotel

Murdoch Medihotel

MediHotel patient buildingsLocated adjacent to Fiona Stanley Hospital and operated by South Metropolitan Health Service, the Murdoch Medihotel offers a range of nursing, allied health and medical services to adult patients.

Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Hospital patients who meet the eligibility criteria will be offered the opportunity to be transferred to the Medihotel.

Patients eligible for transfer must be:

  • Over the age of 65 years (or over the age of 45 for Indigenous Australians)
  • No longer require acute medical or rehabilitative care in hospital
  • Awaiting placement in either respite, transitional care or residential care.

Medihotel facilities allow patients and their family time to plan what is next in a patient’s recovery.

Patients transferred to the Medihotel will have their medical care continued by the Fiona Stanley Hospital medical team in consultation with Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Hospital staff.

Dedicated nursing and assistant in nursing staff will provide excellent clinical care at the Medihotel in collaboration with requests from a patient’s treating doctor.

A multidisciplinary team will continue the patient’s treatment plan and includes physiotherapists, social workers and pharmacists.

If a patient’s condition deteriorates or changes, they may be transferred to Fiona Stanley Hospital until they are well enough to return to the Medihotel.

How much does it cost?

The stay is free for Medicare card holders.

What is included?

Patients will stay in a single room that includes free television, telephone (local calls are free) and an ensuite.

They will receive meals that are cooked on site and should a patient have special dietary requirements, these will be accommodated.

Tea and coffee facilities are available for families and visitors. Patient and family lounge areas are available.
