As an intern with SCGH, you will be assigned to a block allocation consisting of five, 10-11 week rotations which include a mandatory rotation of 10 weeks in both a core medicine and surgery department, and a minimum of eight weeks in emergency medicine. This will ensure that you meet Medical Board of Australia requirements for General Registration. Preference for multiple rotations at peripheral and rural sites will be taken into consideration.

Resident Medical Officer
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) application dates for the 2020 clinical year (13 January 2020 to10 January 2021) are:

RMO positions are available to medical practitioners who have completed their internship or overseas equivalent and are eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as per the professional registration requirements outlined below.
Limited part-time positions are available. Please note that these are dependent on the service delivery requirements and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. They may or may not include shift work, on-call, weekend, after-hours duties and leave relief.

Rotations can be on site at SCGH but can include rotations at various metropolitan, outer metropolitan and regional/rural hospitals in Western Australia.
Registrar positions are available to Medical Practitioners with appropriate qualifications and experience and are eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as per professional registration requirements.
Advanced Training positions may require an application to be submitted to the relevant college in addition to the application to the hospital. Please ensure you have checked the relevant college application requirements and closing dates.

Eligibility
All doctors must be registered with the Medical Board of Australia (external site) division of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

To be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia you must have:
- appropriate qualifications registrable with the Medical Board of Australia via AHPRA (external site) and verified by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) (external site) (overseas graduates specific)
- completed the relevant qualification in an approved Australian or New Zealand medical school
OR:
- appropriate requirements to meet one of the Australian Medical Council assessment pathways (external site):
- Standard Pathway
- Competent Authority Pathway
- Specialist/Short-Term training.
