Pain Management

Pain management uses a multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of chronic, or persistent pain. It covers services across medical, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, clinical psychology, psychiatry and addiction medicine clinical streams.

The Pain Management Department was established at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital over 30 years ago, to provide a comprehensive tertiary pain management unit for WA patients. The Pain Management Department has now relocated to Osborne Park Hospital as the new Pain Management Centre.

The Centre is a Level 1 Accredited training unit and forms part of the State Wide Pain Training Program. It is currently the only public unit in Western Australia that provides advanced training in complex Interventional Pain Procedures.

The new Centre allows the department to expand its services to include pain education and group rehabilitation programs, to help support patient care.
