Resident Medical Officer

RMO positions are available to medical practitioners who have completed their internship or overseas equivalent and are eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as per the professional registration requirements outlined below.

Limited part-time positions are available. Please note that these are dependent on the service delivery requirements and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. They may or may not include shift work, on-call, weekend, after-hours duties and leave relief.

The centralised RMO application process is coordinated by the Postgraduate Medical Council of Western Australia (PMCWA). For more information regarding this process, please visit the PMCWA (external site).

Registrars 

Rotations can be on site at SCGH but can include rotations at various metropolitan, outer metropolitan and regional / rural hospitals in Western Australia.

Registrar positions are available to Medical Practitioners with appropriate qualifications and experience and are eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as per professional registration requirements.

Advanced Training positions may require an application to be submitted to the relevant college in addition to the application to the hospital. Please ensure you have checked the relevant college application requirements and closing dates.

Many registrar applications are coordinated at a single health service, but fulfil recruitment requirements for other hospitals. Please check the adverts to see which hospitals successful applicants may be appointed to.

Eligibility

All doctors must be registered with the Medical Board of Australia (external site) division of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 

To be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia you must have:

• appropriate qualifications registrable with the Medical Board of Australia via AHPRA (external site) and verified by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) (external site) (overseas graduates specific)
• completed the relevant qualification in an approved Australian or New Zealand medical school

OR:

• appropriate requirements to meet one of the Australian Medical Council assessment pathways (external site):
  • Standard Pathway
  • Competent Authority Pathway
  • Specialist / Short-Term training.
